Widely used Sodium Nitrate is a yellowish-white, odorless powder. It is soluble in water. It has a melting point of 586.4°F (308°C) and a boiling point of 716°F (380°C).

Sodium nitrate (NaNO3) is a chemical compound with many uses, including as a food additive and in fertilizers, explosives, and more:

1. Food additive: It is used as a preservative in processed meats like bacon, hot dogs, and salami. It helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, retain color, and extend shelf life.
2. Agricultural Fertilizer: Widely used Sodium Nitrate is the first commercially available nitrogenus fertilizer. It can provide up to 20% of the nitrogen nutrition in organic cropping systems.
3. It is used in solid propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnics.
4. It is used in the production of glass and pottery enamels.
5. Other uses: Sodium nitrate is also used as a NMR chemical shift reference compound.
